About us

Who is AdaArt?
AdaArt is a collaboration of husband and wife, working and inspiring together.
Ruben, being from Argentina, brings with him 19 years of experience in the micro-macramé and filigree techniques of South America. Ruben, who learned from his brother, began teaching Libby, his wife, almost 10 years ago. She now focuses on the micro macramé side of their workshop and Ruben on silversmithing. However, since macramé is so time consuming, Ruben often finds himself knotting instead of hammering.

What we do...
Macramé is an old technique of knotting that began in the 13th century with the Arab weavers. Essentially macramé means fringe, as in the fringe on rugs. It has since developed largely in South and Central America. We use a thin Brazilian waxed cord to do micro-macramé. This makes for tight, waterproof jewelry that you can wear everyday.
We set semi-precious stones in these macramé settings. No glue, just lots of knots and patience.
